Brief introduction of grade

There are two series of tungsten carbide grades for roll ring in our company.  

PLH series: Wc+Co pure, cobalt as the single binder for conventional mills

PLR series: Wc+Co-Ni-Cr, cobalt nickel chromium as the mult-binder, with low water requirements and cost.

The binder content is from 32% to 6% as the following:

PLRPL08R,PL10R, PL12R, PL18R, PL20R, PL30R, PL32R

PLHPL06H, PL08H, PL10H, PL15H, PL18H, PL25H, PL30H, PL32H

 

The alloys’ hardness and wear resistance come from tungsten carbide (Wc) while the toughness and strength depend on the binder (Co, Co-Ni-Cr).

The finishing mill is generally composed of 8-10 stands, 4 front stands, 4 rear stands. As the large truncation surface size of rolled products, the rolls on the front finishing mill are subject to great load and impact. Thus, the high hardness and good thermal fatigue resistance are the primary factors, prior to wear-resistance. For the rolls on the rear stands subjected to the low load and impact, wear-resistance and thermal fatigue resistance of roll rings are more important.
